Weather Guidelines

 

Safety is our number one priority at River Rats.  In our efforts to ensure your children’s safety, there will inevitably be days that are canceled or cut short due to inclement weather.  We will seek to err on the side of caution in all cases.

We will make every effort to communicate with you in a timely manner as to necessary changes due to bad weather.  That said, we are not perfect so please bear with us.

Below are several guidelines which we have developed over the years when the weather get nasty.  We will endeavor to follow them this summer.

Pre-class Changes

In many cases, we will be aware of incoming weather that may affect classes on a particular day.  This could result in a late start, early close or full cancellation.  We try to notify parents via text and email by 8:00 am that morning.  Please do not contact us ahead of that time.  We are also parents and very aware that you are all juggling schedules for your kids so will communicate any changes ASAP!  We try our best to schedule makeups in the event of a weather-related all day cancellation but we cannot commit to do so.

Mid-day Changes

We will keep our eye on the weather during the day.  Sometimes, the weather changes for the worse mid-day.  In that case, kids will be in class but we need to halt the day due to incoming bad weather.  We will communicate an early closure via text and email ASAP and we ask that you pick up your children from the property as soon as possible.  Kids who are bikers will be sent home on their own so long as we make the determination that it is safe.
