Adult Sailing Program
The Adult Sailing Program is given each spring over three weeks in June. It consists of three evening classroom sessions on weeknights and three “on the water” sessions on Saturday mornings. The program is open to all, club members and non-members. This program is for adults who have never sailed and adults who want a refresher course.
The classroom sessions consist of sailing theory, nomenclature, the different points of sail, trimming sails, rigging, and basic knot tying. In the “on the water” sessions, students skipper members’ and club boats on three Saturday mornings on the river, accompanied on board by a River Rats club member. The goal of the Adult Sailing Program is to enable adults to skipper a small boat by themselves on the river.
